Orics Industries: Always up to the challenge. When other equipment builders can't get the job done, Orics Industries can. Reichel Foods was faced with the problem of finding a machine that could acknowledge randomly fed trays off of their existing eight assembly lanes into one tray sealer. After a lot of searching, they got the answer that they needed from Orics. "We needed automated equipment that would accept randomly fed trays in multiple lanes," said Craig Reichel, owner of Reichel Foods. " Most machinery builders who said they could design such equipment wanted a sizable financial commitment from us before they would even show us what their solution was." Since Reichel Foods was a firm that was in start-up mode, this type of situation did not meet their needs. Then Orics came into the picture. Orics was willing to design machinery for the company on terms that were acceptable to both parties. Today Reichel Foods uses an Orics line to perform the vacuum-gas-flush process, which helps to give the package the extended shelf life of 36 days. The task of sealing these trays is performed by an intermittent-motion machine, which Mr. Reichel describes as one of a kind. Not only is the machine able to handle all of these tasks, while running flawlessly, but the machine runs as fast as 120 trays per minute. Due to this speed performance, there is enough sealing power to process all of the daily food production in a fraction of the time, all while saving materials.
